| In order to breed does they must be at-least 90lbs and the bigger the better due to a high conception rate but there is still a good chance they will “stick”. To begin to breed the does, because of time constriction and getting bred on the correct date, they will need to be synchronized. This is done be giving the does a series of shots of a hormone that will bring them into heat. This shot is ideally administered 21 days before the does are scheduled to be with the buck. The first shot will be given to “clean out” or flush the does of there ovulation cycle. The second shot will be administered 10 days later to bring the does into heat approximately 11 days after the final shot. This hormone is lutalyse and is given at a rate of 2cc per head per dose, regardless of size. This will help reduce the cost of a maintiance fee at the breeders and make you does have a better chance of having kids on the desired dates. Remember not all animals are going to react the same to different kinds of medicines and/or vaccines so results can vary from animal to animal. |
